Using Camera Profiles in Import.

I'm getting ready to begin importing my existing photos into Lightroom 2.1. In playing around with this, I can't figure out how to "Develp" at import using the Beta Camera Profiles for my D3''. I'd like to get them as close as possible to what I am used to starting the editing process with. Unfortunatly, it's not one of the "Develop" options available.

Is this not doable?

If it is...please let me know how to make this happen.

Here's how to set a camera profile as the default:

(') Choose any image for which the default should apply. Enter Develop.
(1) Press the Reset button in the lower right.
(2) Choose the profile you'd like to be the default.
(3) Hold the Alt/Option key. The Reset button will change to "Set Default..." Click it.

Note that if you have defaults per camera or per ISO, you might need to repeat this for other cameras or ISO settings.

I'm trying to understand how all of this interacts.

Basicially, I want all imported RAW files (wether from a new shoot or from an existing folder on my HD) to reflect D2X Mode I which is how I shoot in camera on my D3''.

If these options are selected, then the process Mark described needs to repeated for each applicable combination of the two above variables.

If you leave these two unchecked, every Nikon camera you own, at every ISO, will be treated the same as the single default you set. More than one camera? Check the first box, and then do the default thing for an image from that camera. Want different treatments for different ISOs? Check the second box, and again, do the default thing for those various settings.

If you want to choose between different profiles as you import then go to Develop module and create presets for each camera profile.

Just change the camera profile and save a preset by clicking on the plus sign in the Presets panel on the left. Uncheck all the settings except Calibration. Then save it with a logical name like Nikon - Standard.

Do this for each of the profiles. Now you can choose between them on import. Of course they will only be applied to images from that brand of camera.
