Has anyone done a semi-quantitative comparison of the upsizing capability of the latest LR Classic and the latest Photoshop?
Say I had a photo that was 1000 px on a side and I wanted to upsize it to 1500 px a side.
Has anyone found a difference?

In general, I upsize in PS, and I do that before I do some other work there. I am generally working on a tiff I sent over from LR. I have found that PS tends to better in a lot of things than does LR, though it is generally more work.
In the situation I am facing, I will work with a jpeg.

I will also want to compare the 2x upsize, from 1000 to 2000 px.
I am guessing that is where I will see the difference.

Long ago, and for practical purposes it wasn't worth going to PS.

You know you can compare the two images in PS by getting them onto layers and using Difference blending mode?

Thanks. I have had good luck with both. I have been playing with more texture blending, and many of my textures need upsizing. That is easy to do in PS. The case in hand is for upsizing a smaller photo for a photo club member for a contest I run so that she can compete on equal ground. As you say, practically it may not make a difference, but PS gives a fair amount of control, and LR is "just an export" and I have never read about what algorism it uses. I was planning on using the PS difference mode, then looking in any specific areas at higher mag.
In general with a lot of pixels in my RAWS, I use LR to downsize for multiple uses, though I upsize for some printing and have never given it a 2nd thought. I asked here as my analytical side kicked in before I do it.
