upgraded to 1.3 and it runs slow (??)

i just update my lightroom from 1.1 to 1.3 and is it me or is it running slow? my hard drive is partitioned in to 3 drives and i have photos stored on all three. i have been trying to organize my photos by exporting as catalogs my unflagged photos. also i have been trying to "move" photos between folders inside lightroom by selecting photos and then right clicking on the folder i want to move them to. anyway, sometime it takes up to an hour or longer to move & or export catalogs. the number of photos in each varies from 5' to 6''. what i thought would take three hours has taken 12 and i am only half way there. i have adequate space on the hard drives for the files i am trying to export/move

also lightoom seems to "hang up" quite a bit more than it did with v1.1 also lightroom is running very slowly, when i click on something, say edit, or a photo, or view .. lightroom can take second to minutes to respond.

any ideas on how i can "speed" things up?

have u lightroom 1.3.1 or 1.3?

i had a simila problem i did -->file-->catalog-->optimize
it's take several minutes but it worked

i remember that when i update to lightroom 1.' to lightoom to 1.2
lightroom was very slow
so i export the catalog , i delete every thing the old catalog and the preview directory
make a new catalog and import , and this make lightroom 1.2 fast

good suggestion, i am optimizing now. i am running 1.3.1. i haven't been running optimize database when i back up and with all the files i have been moving around i am sure this will help. my laptop is running a little slow now too so i will run defrag and try to opimize my hard drives.
