I'm running Lightroom 2.4 with Mac OS 1'.5.7. When I try to print a photo full-size or in several sizes using the contact sheet or picture package presets, I get a beautifully done print in 4x5 size, i.e. on one-quarter of the paper. If I export the photo to any other program such as Photoshop or even Preview or save the print as a jpeg and print in another program, the size is correct. It doesn't seem to be a printer issue, as it happens with either my Canon or HP printer.
UPDATE: I deleted my Lightroom preferences file as Victoria suggested and restarted the Mac. I removed and reinstalled both printers, testing each in case there was a conflict. Since I recently updated to a Mac, I went to Lightroom on the old PC and did test prints and got correct sizes with both printers.
The print settings on the Mac machine are as follows: I chose 8x11 size paper, portrait orientation. I tried "Maximum Size" without changing any settings, as well as several of the other presets. I've deselected print resolution, deleted all cells and added them back, etc.
I'm not sure what else I can try, but I do appreciate your suggestions! Thanks!

II have an idea we used to be able to post templates, will check on that. Thanks

I have it, now I'm no expert on this but your template doesn't show up in my list after installing it and I have noticed that it is 88kb in size whereas all of mine are 1'4kb. What does this mean, I don't know but will investigate and report back!! ::) ::)

Well, it's entirely possible I don't know how to create and/or export it correctly too. (Problem In Chair, Not In Computer and all that :icon_lol: ) Also, when I made it into a zip file I believe it compressed the file so that may account for the difference in file size & installation issue. Thanks again Geoff!

That template is that size, don't know why??? But it is on mine as well, it is only one that size?? !!Have sent you a couple to try please!!

Slight variation on a theme - you've done Print to Jpeg, which worked correctly, right? What happens if you change back to Print to Printer, press Print, but then print to PDF using the button bottom left instead? It'd save ink in testing, if nothing else!

Great, another mind on it again!!!Print to jpeg works fine.
Interesting the print template doesn't show up in my catalog after installing it and restarting -weird!I've attached it with the txt extension!! :D :D

Hi Victoria, as you might have guessed, printing to pdf, and then to the printer, yields the correct size!
Geoff, there was nothing attached to your second email, sorry! But the first template printed at 4x6 size.
Just a thought. I've dumped the prefs, uninstalled & reinstalled the printers, created new catalogs, but I've never un- and re-installed Lightroom. Is deleting the prefs the same thing with a Mac?
I just can't get it out of my head that somehow Lightroom direct-to-printer is only seeing a 4x6 paper size. If I make up a contact sheet with several different sizes of the photo, that's how it prints to paper, is a 4x6 miniature of the 8.5x11 contact sheet! Of course, saving to jpeg or pdf or exporting to another app prints correctly in letter size.
Thank you both!

I've been dealing with this issue for so long that I'm determined to figure it out! Another thought I had, maybe I'm reaching for straws... If it wouldn't help to uninstall/reinstall Lightroom, would it help to delete the previews?

I would certainly give uninstalling LR and reinstalling. I would do the same with the prefs.
Here is what I would try - Shift LR application to the desktop and rename it, do the same with the preferences.
Install LR again and create a new catalog, import a few files and try it out.

Good luck!!
By the way, how large is your existing catalog MB wise?

Hi again Geoff,
Ok, I'll give un- and re-installing a try. Any other files besides the app file and the prefs that I need to move/rename/delete? My catalog is only 166 MB right now, but I have been hoping to solve this printing issue as I've recently been designated the family memory keeper. I have a big box of family photos to scan and print for those family members who aren't computer literate. So my catalog will be growing by leaps and bounds soon!

Thank you!

Fingers Crossed and toes.No those two files should be all you need to move, place them in a folder on your desktop. First could you export as a catalog three files from the troublesome one (with negatives) and email the lot over to me.Thanks..........

GEOFF, IT WORKED!!!!
wait, i think i'll whisper in case it hears me & pitches a fit again, don't wanna jinx it. :p ok, now do i dare reimport everything such as my catalog, presets, etc in case something in there was the problem?

Brilliant !! :D :D I assume that was reinstalling??Where are you up to?

I'll admit that I went a bit further with the files than you suggested. :-[ I found the app file, all the catalog folders, the preset folder, and the preferences file. Interestingly, I found a preferences file for the LR2 Beta & threw it out too. I backed them all up, renamed them all, dropped them in a folder on my desktop, and backed that up to an external. Then I deleted it from the Mac, took two aspirin and laid down in a dark room (kidding, kind of!)Then I reinstalled LR2 and imported photos that I'd never had in any catalog, and so far so good! So, now I'm wondering what NOT to reimport/reinstall. Preferences? Catalog? Previews? Presets? At least I know what to do if the problem reappears. You are a genius!

Great, now go and give yourself a pat on the back for sticking with it all !!! :D :D I would stop where you are with the new catalog, make a copy of it (as always), then reopen the new one and do an "Import from Catalog" from the problem one. We'll see what happens!!Next we can look at bringing back in presets. etc.Doing this methodically we may be able to isolate the problem!!

Okay, I'll start with the catalog, maybe in parts, then we'll go from there. THANK YOU GEOFF!! You're the one that stuck with it all and I really appreciate it!

Thank you, that is the idea, go for chunks rather than the whole lot at once. How many files are there it import from the catalog?

Nice work guys!
