unwanted keyword on import?

everytime I import photos a keyword I dont want is added to all imported photos.
it doesnt matter if I add other keywords when importing, or if I leave the keyword box empty on import.
Ive checked my metadata preset and the keyword isnt there.

any ideas where else to look?

Clearly you've ruled out the most likely entry paths: from the Import dialog keyword box, or likewise from any metadata preset applied at import. Those two are the cause 99% of the time.

On an off chance, at the top of the Keyword List, in the Library Right Hand Panel, is 'Filter Keywords' text box. Click that, and type in your mystery keyword. See if it appears in the list more than once, and is perhaps being applied in the hierarchy of an intentionally applied keyword somehow. I doubt this is it, but worth a look.

Hey.... I was just jumping on the forum for this EXACT same reason....

I used the filter to find and delete the key word that crept into my import... Then I looked at all my presets carefully and there it was!!!!

Do you use any keywords by default on import, either via a metadata preset or a direct entered keyword in the import dialog? If you do, it may be a synonym issue. If you look at an offending image and go to the Library Module, Keywording Panel there is a Keyword Tags pull-down menu. Is yours set to "Will Export"? If so, you likely are using a keyword that has a synonym and that synonym is your mystery keyword.

Did you try an import with Metadata on the Import dialog set to None?
