Lightroom Version Number
LR Classic v12.4
Operating System
  1. macOS 12 Monterey
after updating to v12.4 LR opens and immediately shuts down.

Initial troubleshooting steps:

1. Restart your computer.

2. Are you seeing the crash report pop up? If so, enter the email address associated with your Adobe ID and submit it to Adobe. Then post a detailed description of what you're seeing in this thread (and be sure to mention you've submitted a crash report):
https://community.adobe.com/t5/ligh...cent-update-of-lightroom-classic/m-p/13868296

which is being monitored by Adobe employee Rikk Flohr.

3. Try this workaround from Adobe employee Smit K, which worked for a bug with similar symptoms that was supposedly fixed in 12.4:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/ligh...te-of-lightroom-classic/idc-p/13746935#M42982

4. If this doesn't help, roll back to 12.3.

I restarted my computer, on the second crash I shut the computer down, on the third try I started searching for answers.
After the 1st crash the Adobe Crash Report went to Adobe. I received a response that they had no solution. On subsequent crashes the Crash report pop-up no longer appeared.
I have also followed instructions on the Adobe site to manually send a crash report, however the instructions do not produce the dialog shown on the website. However I have found the report itself. Is there an alternative way to send it to Adobe?

I have not yet tried the work around you suggested. If I roll back to v12.3 will I lose pre-sets and other info?

Thank you. I think that is the simplest, safest solution for me until Adobe fixes this bug in 12.4
I did notice when I checked Library>Logs>Adobe that my name doesn't appear , only "system" has read & write privileges; "wheel" and "everyone" have read only. Should I attempt to add my name to have R&W permissions? Thanks again for your help!

Doesn't happen on my MacBook Pro 16 (M2) on Ventura (MacOS 13.4) but it does on Windows if I attempt to use the new Denoise tool.

The re-installed LR v12-3 worked until I attempted to import images, then it started crashing . I have uninstalled and re-installed the app for the 2nd time, but I think there must be something else that I'm missing, i.e. permissions or something? Any one have a solution?

By the way, 12-3 is working fine on my MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.6. I never installed LR v12-4 on the MacBook. Could the 12-4 that I uninstalled from my iMac have left some files behind that are creating this glitch?
