Undo all steps in just last tool

Is there a way to undo just the last tool or type of adjustment?

I just had to undo 12 crop attempts but didnt want to reset as I didnt want to lose the colour changes I'd made - is there a way to just reset the current/last tool with one click?

In History, you can just click on the point you want to go back to, and work from there. Does that solve it for you?

All of the Local Adjustments, including Crop/Straighten have a reset button on the panel. Resetting any of the Develop Panel sliders can be accomplished by double clicking the slider name; all of the adjustments within a Develop panel can be reset by holding Alt/Opt, and clicking the panel 'reset' button which appears.

That said, Mark's suggestion may be more selective/intuitive.
