After transferring all my Lightroom data from an outdated 27" iMac to a 24 inch model I am unable to load any new photos from my 12 Pro Max. The LR app does not recognize ANY source. Any help to alleviate this frustration will be much appreciated.

I regularly import from my iPhone 12 Pro Max to Lightroom Classic, can I ask what you mean by 'ANY source' and 'LR app'?

Repeating iwaddo's question, how are you connecting the phone to the computer? Do you see the phone as a removable volume in Finder? does the photos app automatically import these photos to iCloud and your Photos Library.photoslibrary?

The phone is attached with a cable that has a lightning input and a usb input. The phone is indeed removable in the Finder. We do not import any photos to iCloud.
I appreciate your suggestions, Cletus. Unfortunately, I am still at an impasse.

Sorry for being so late in responding to your suggestions. To be more explicit with my original text to you, I should say that when I am using the LR app import function there is no selection for iPhone photos to be imported.

This is the Lightroom Classic forum, can I ask @Pathfinder to clarify which version is being used.

There are replies mentioning Lightroom Classic and some Lightroom app, is the Lightroom Desktop?

Can you post a screen shot of the import dialog?

I am using Lightroom Classic 14. 5. 1.
@Pathfinder Have you solved this yet?

I have a iPhone 12 Pro Max and import from it regularly so keen to help you but as has been requested we need more information.

A full screenshot of the import screen with the iPhone connected and unlocked would be a great place to start.

In your second photo, you need to click on the down arrow on the lower left of the dialog to expand it. In the third screen shot, you should see your phone listed in the Source panel as a Device as in the screen shot below.

If you do not see your phone when connected by your phone lightning /USB cable you need to turn on the phone and perhaps open the photos app. You may see a message on the phone asking you to trust this computer. Once the phone is connected, you can select it from the devices listed.

Is the iPhone showing in Finder?
I agree, the phone should show in the Left Locations panel of Finder. If it does not, then I suspect the Lightning Cable is damaged or the Phone Lightning Port is full of "dust bunnies" Or something else in the path of the phone to the computer port is failing.

The phone IS SHOWING IN THE FINDER! I have no idea of what to try next. I want to thank those who have made suggestions and had the patience to follow through with my actions.
