I'm new here but not to Lightroom. I've been a heavy user since the first Beta and process over 1'',''' images a year with the software. My co-workers and I have recently made the leap to LR2 and were in love with the brush feature. We'd dreamed about a history brush but this works too.
Anyway, we just discovered a problem with attempting to work on Jpegs created from files that had been locally brushed before exporting.
Some background: I work for a large wedding studio doing over 4'' weddings a year. We work in a mixed PC and Mac Environ but our workflow is similar on both platforms. We import RAW files into our library, make selections and corrections, then export them as sRGB 8bit jpegs to our server. These Jpegs are like soft proofs, hosted online etc.
Occasionally we feel the need to open that archived jpeg in CS2 or CS3 in order to put some fairy dust on it before going to print the canvas or album etc. After making adjustments in PS and attempting to save a jpeg we receive an error message "incorrect file format" or something to that effect. We can save it as a PSD but then if we play with that PSD and try to save as a JPEG we get errors again. Other times a co-worker of mine will try to open a jpeg of a file originally converted in LR2 and it will say "File is Locked" or something to that effect. We've actually experimented and isolated it to files in which the localized brushes or gradients were used. Heard of this?
