I tried importing a folder full of various images that I had manipulated in CS2 and noticed that LR would not import all of them. It seems as though it won't import PSD files that still have all of the layers intact i.e. are not flattened. This is a bit of a nuisance. Any way around this? Thanks.

Trouble importing PSD files

In the the Photoshop prefs under File Handling, set Maximize PSD and PSB Compatibility to Always and it should work. You'll need to open and resave any files that were last saved before you changed that setting.
