Trouble finding Catalogues while trying to Merge into one Master Catalogue

Admittedly I've made a mess of my Lightroom Classic work flow. I'm not a working photographer, but I enjoy photography as a hobby. I've used LrC for about seven years now and over this period of time have just screwed up the whole filing system.
I'm currently trying to Merge about eight catalogues into a Master and can't find the catalogues in the way you describe the operation.
I know they exist because I've seen them listed, but they don't show up when I go to Finder and put in LRCAT.

Can you clue me in on what I'm doing wrong?
