A came across tonemapping HDRs (generated from NEFs) in PS. I imported the resulting TIF file in LR 2.4 which does not contain the exif data of the original NEFs any more.

For organising reasons within lightroom I would prefer the exif data to be contained also in the new TIFs. Is there a way to (easily) copy exif data from one file to another in LR?

I realized that it is possible to copy meta-data from one file to another in LR. For some reason, however, this meta-data does not contain exif information.

I also realized that capture time can be manually adjusted (which helps a little bit). However, this is not really comfortable and it does not help with respect to other exif information.

Any ideas?

Is there a manual way to edit exif data in LR?

If it is not possible to do the task in LR: Suggestions for other software?

Thanks for your thoughts,

EXIF data is generated by the equipment that creates the image, camera, scanner etc.. an HDR created in an application doesn't have EXIF data. What would the shutter speed be if it was created from 3 NEF's with different shutter speeds ?

However.. there are tools out there (others will chime in with examples, I don't use any) that can modify EXIF but LR won't do it, and I can see why you may want the original camera data stored in the file.

Try Phil Harvey's multi-OS Exiftool, and the various GUI frontends that use it.
There are some Lr metadata manipulation plugins available, but I don't think they'll help in this situation.
