I am new to lightroom and am having two major problems I cannot resolve.

First, my develop presets keep getting erased. Three times now I have created presets under the User Presets folder based on the ones I used in Camera RAW. Each time I quit the application and restart, my presets are gone as well as the default presets I set for all my images. In addition, any image adjustments I made are also gone. What am I doing wrong?

The other problem is that when I try to use the spot removal or redeye tool, the cursor gets stuck in the zoom/hand tool position, and I can not get it to show the spot removal and redeye tools cursor even though those tools are selected. Is this a bug?

First, what version of Lr?

Can you walk us thru the steps you used for this?

Yes, some people seem to suffer from it, and others not. There's another recent thread on the topic..

The version I am using is mac lightroom 2.3

I found two things that seemed to cure the preset problem. I am not sure which cured it.

First instead of storing my presets in the "user presets" folder, I instead created a new folder called "camera presets" and stored them their.

The other thing I did was to set the preferences to that the xmp files were stored with the raw files as well as the catalog. Between the two it seemed to cure the problem.

Hmm, well, I don't completely understand it, but fixed is fixed. :)

BTW, welcome to the forums, I got caught up in formatting my post, and forgot to notice it was your first post.

If you think you'll be participating frequently, it's helpful to readers and contributors alike, if you build a signature block with pertinent computer and software specs. Camera and personal stuff (maybe a preferred name?) too if you like. Click 'User CP' at top right of forum.
