Tool Behavior Lightroom to Photoshop CS4

For some unfathonable reason when I go from Lightroom to Phtoshop to edit my image, my tools in Photoshop no longer behave as in the past. For example, when I fetch the Paint Brush (B), I get the Paint Brush symbol on the cursor rather than the adjustable circle. When I fetch the Clone Stamp (S), I get the icon rather than the circle. It is extremely frustrating. I would appreciate some help to fix this problem.

Do you have Caps Locks on?

No. But when I put the Caps Lock on, the icons change to a cross hair. Even with the cross hair there isn't any functionality to the tool.

Does the same happen if you just open a file directly into PS without going through LR? Sounds like you've ditched your PS prefs at some point, as that's where the cursors are set.

If you go to Edit>Preferences>Cursors in CS4 what are your settings?Is "Normal Brush Tip Selected (If not, try it)

Thank you so much for the tip to select "Normal Brush Tip" in Preferences>Cursors. It solved the problem. I would have thought "Standard" would be the logical preference. Again, thank you!
