Time of NEF files different in Windows 7 vs. Lightroom

Ok, I'm a little confused right now. So I originally set my camera to UTC time. In Windows 7's Windows Explorer, the time shows up as 8:'4 PM. However, in Lightroom, the time shows up as 11:'4 AM. The date is July 4th, 2''9. So which time is the correct time here? Without knowing which time is correct, I can't correctly fixed the time in Lightroom.
Loading the file into Photoshop CS4, I see the Date Created field with the 11:'4 AM time. The Date File Modified field shows 8:'4 PM.
What does the date modified field? I thought RAW files can't be edited or altered? I didn't adjust the time in the files before. Everything has been untouched since transferring the files from the camera on to the desktop.

In Windows 7 Explorer, it is possible to display 4 date/times: Date Taken, Date Modified, Date Created, Date Accessed. In the default Details display, the date/time displayed under Date is one of the last 3, NOT Date Taken.

Have just taken a picture with in camera set to GMT (UTC), and laptop set to British Summer Time (GMT+1) and unsurprisingly on import Explorer shows Date/Time Taken as the correct in camera GMT time, all the other three date/times are the in computer GMT+1 (local) time. Sounds like you just need to change your default Windows Explorer display to include Date Taken....

How do I do that?

Browse to the pictures folder and set the Explorer display to show Details (Options drop-down box at the right-hand side of the 'Organise' Menu Bar, move the slider to Details). In the resulting details display, right-click in an UNUSED part of the column headings bar (Name, Date, Type, Size, etc) and a dialog box will appear with check-boxes alongside all the possible column headings. Check the ones you want and away you go....

Further to the above, in Explorer when you browse a picture folder no matter what type of display you are using, icons (i.e. thumbnails) or details, simply move the mouse pointer over the icon or filename and a small window opens with various details about the picture.....and the Date field displayed here is Date Taken, which should therefore display the time/date in camera at the time of shooting.
