This Website versus Adobe Lightroom Forums

This is my first time here - looks good - just curious about its relationship to Adobe and/or their Lightroom forum:

- Does Adobe/The-Lightroom-Team visit this forum? - do bug reports & feature requests make it to Adobe's ears??...
- How does one decide whether to post here, or on Adobe's Lightroom forum, or both???

Welcome Rob.

This forum is entirely independent, however there are a lot of well-known LR names around here, and some Adobe employees drop by from time to time. Whilst there are some links to Adobe, if you want to talk to Adobe, use their forums.

The forums are different - completely different. The Adobe Forums are, well, a little ferocious at times. Here, we work hard to keep a friendly family atmosphere where everyone is approachable, and the main aim is to help out new users and those with problems. Moderators do watch the forums carefully here to ensure a pleasant experience for all members.

A quick summary of the main ground rules -

  [li]Being nice and friendly is more important than being right. Arguments will be promptly stopped.

  [li]Complaining about Adobe, whether pricing or anything else, is not acceptable, simply because it's not productive and spoils the relaxed atmosphere.

  [li]It's not a place for self-promotion. Promotion of commercial products is not acceptable unless under an Advertising subscription and even then only posted in the Advertising forum. Free products may have a single thread per product in the plug-in forum for information purposes, as long as it's not abused (i.e. no posting "my plug-in will do this" in every vaguely related thread - that's what the plug-in forum's for).[/li]

Still not sure whether all bug reports & feature requests are forwarded to Adobe - sounds like its a more loose arrangement than that.

That's what I hoped you'd say!

This plug-in sub-forum: http://www.lightroomqueen.com/community/index.php?board=48.' - you can post one thread per plug-in in that sub-forum, and various members point users back to those threads when applicable. That way people can choose whether to read about them or not. That sub-forum was originally created at member's requests, because they wanted to read about LR itself and plug-in threads were tending the swamp the main forums. It's just a question of balance.

Bug reports get through. Feature requests often get through. For anything you definitely want to get through, we always recommend the main Official Feature Request/Bug Report Form in addition to the more roundabout route of posting here.
