Hi there... Im finding the text filtering in LR21 a bit annoying. How do I filetr for just one word, BUT not as part of a string of words? ie, I have a field I use to list the agencies I send to, so 'ABC123' might appear on its own (ie I have only sent it to that one agency), or as part of a string of words (seperated by commas) .... in other words i have sent it to a few agencies. If I want to search for the instances where that word appears, ON ITS OWN,, how do i do that? probably missing something obvious... Mark

If you mean finding images tagged with "ABC123" and absolutely nothing else, there is the workaround:
  1. In the metadata filter, Keywords column, select ALL keywords
  2. From the same place, deselect the target word "ABC123"
  3. In Grid, select ALL photos Cmd/Ctrl-A
  4. Now select the target word "ABC123"
  5. In the menu, "Invert Selection"
That works! :D

Mark, Lr is deficient in this respect. There is a 'Contains Only', but its functioning is problematic.

When you say 'Field', are you stashing this somewhere in the IPTC? If so which field? Is that field available in the metadata filter?

Edit: I was going to recommend the same workaround that Denis just simul-posted, but that depends on the pertinent field be listed in the metadata filter (as opposed to a 'searchable text field'). Hence the questions about which field.

well spotted Brad... I am using the Rights Usage field... NOT available (for some reason??) in metadata search... I would have thought Adobe could quite easily include a way of isolating a single word? or am I being naive.... it must be the flu I am battling with...Mark

Denis

From the same place, deselect the target word "ABC123"

Could you explain that bit for me please? How deselect?

In step 1 I told to select ALL keywords (shift-click). So, just single click that word to deselect. Note that I am not talking about keywords in the right pane here but under the filter bar!
