I have a new iMac running the latest version of macOS Catalina. I am constantly getting system shutdowns when using LR Classic. Never had this problem on previous iMacs and LR. Are there compatibility issues with Catalina and LR Classic that might be causing this problem? I waited until the end of December 2019 to upgrade to Catalina fearing issues. Now I am wits end to use LR Classic with the constant shutdowns. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

It isn't something we're hearing about; have you updated to the very latest Catalina patches (10.15.3)?

Thos machine dumps are almost impossible to diagnose for the untrained. However one thing caught my eye. “”Apple.driver.usb”. What third party devices do you have plugged into your USB ports? I’m thinking that you have an incompatible piece of hardware or and out of date driver for that hardware.

I experience something like this too, and much too frequently. I do not consider it related specificly to LR Classic.
My Imac 27"-5k is experiencing kernel panics regulary, say once a week. which is way way to often.
I consider it a Catalina /Apple problem. It never happened before on previous versions og macOS . (maybe every second year)
For me it has the added flavour that my data disk, a Pegasus3 R4 raid (16 TB) on TB3, gets dropped on the auto-reboot, requiring me to make a clean restart... and this initial lack of 'true data' can blindside LR or other software when trying to restore status after the kernel panic.
Wonder if other users have similar problem?
