A new little trick i learnt today was Synconizing Folders....since 1.1, man little hidden stuff like this i love.

Nice link at killer tips

http://www.lightroomkillertips.com/2''8/video-synchronizing-your-folders/

I notice though on the video, that the importation of the files does not include option for DNG conversion (which i do on import).

Shouldn't the import dialogue box be consistant with 'Normal" importation of files.

Syncing folders brings what already exists into the Catalog, it's not a standard import. Think of it as a version of Import at current location- this also doesn't have a DNG conversion option.

This is not how Matt K sells it on the video.

His point in fact, is that it can be any image that has yet to be imported int LR, specifically with existing folder structure.

It can provide the dialogue box for import, and include all options in that, except for DNG conversion.

Not quite all options Brad - it only lets you import at the current location, not copy/move too.

As Sean said, it just synchronizes the existing folder, adding any files to the catalog, but not changing them.

To do a convert to DNG or move/copy to another folder, it would no longer be limited to the confines of that folder, and you may as well do a full import.
