Hey all. I started using LR on ipad while on last holiday and planned to synchronize with my LRC on my desktop when I returned. I took about 3500 photos. It appears most of the photos have synced properly as they appear in LR imports file on LRC but I have noticed there are a few photos missing. I checked on the cloud icon on top right of LRC and it tells me it is in process of syncing 3568 photos. This has been the case for the last few weeks. I have left LR open most of the time, have unlimited broadband downloads at speeds of 260mbps.

Why doesn't that number in process of syncing ever appear to change? I have since taken some more photos and they seem to have synced properly. The number went above 3568 and then came back to this number after syncing new photos. How do I know all my photos are synced? Thanks

I think there are bugs in the LrC sync process. Foremost is the Sync error queue. I don’t think it gets updated after a while. The Adobe Creative Cloud app also must be running in the background and somehow plays a roll in the sync process. Whenever the sync process appears to hang, I do the following: Log out pf LrC, Log out of the ACC app, Exit both programs. I then restart the ACC app logging back in there. Then restart LrC and login there if necessary. Often when this has been completed, the sync will restart of “surprise, surprise” the sync error queue will be clear. Occasionally, I’ll have 1-2 recalcitrant images that seem to have unresolvable errors. These I chase down and remove from the syncing collections and “All synced Photographs”. After I get no sync errors I can add these back in to the collections that synced and they usually will sync error free.

Thanks Cletus - That worked!! (at least for now)

Greetings, I to have a Synchronization problem. I am using Lightroom CC on a Windows 11 laptop. I have 46K photos that have been imported in to Lightroom. These are in about 50 Albums.

The problem is that Lightroom is trying to Synchronize continually. All the Albums appear to have synchronized with the Cloud OK.

I am using LRC and have SYNC paused in LRC. Could this be the issue.
Thanks

Where are you seeing "Lightroom is trying to Synchronize continually"? Lightroom is and app for mobile devices and for the desktop. The term Lightroom CC was poorly conceived by Adobe as it is confusing. We only use Lightroom for the cloud based apps and Lightroom Classic (LrC) for the catalog based app. Which are you referring to when you say "Lightroom is trying to Synchronize continually"?
Both apps sync to the Adobe Cloud.
If you turned off Sync in LrC then LrC is telling you that it is out of sync with respect to the Adobe Cloud. If you are seeing this in Lightroom Desktop, then Lightroom app is telling you that there are changes made locally that need to sync to the Adobe Cloud. You cannot turn off sync in Lightroom (cloud) only log out of your Adobe Account.

Thanks very much for the reply. I had stopped sync on LRC so it would not interfere with LR. Since turning sync on in LRC it is downloading images. I will wait for it to stabilize. I have LR on my phone and a Android Tablet which may also be causing problems.

Not seeing changes made locally waiting to be uploaded. Again I will see when sync is finished syncing.

From what you are saying I need to wait for the Cloud based and Catalogue to stabilize.

I think that is right. The Adobe Cloud is the repository for everything that sync. If the LrC Catalog has indicated to the Adobe Cloud that there are 2000 images to sync, then the process once it starts will try to sync continuously until it is complete. You can only pause the process. There is a special collection in the Catalog panel called “All Synced Photographs”. It will contain all images that are going to be going to the Adobe Cloud (or more properly have gone to the Adobe Cloud).

I had turned off all the Collections sync. It would appear to download everything that was in the cloud that had been synced from LRC. I have 46K of images I added to LR (all synced and Backed up) I don't think they will be downloaded. Time well tell.

gavlow,

Thanks for the reply and apologies for being so slow getting back to you. I have been on holidays for 3 weeks and have just got home. The continually sync has stopped and LR is running as it should. Lightroom may have taken time to get synced correctly. I was running LR and uploading photos while I was away (about 2K photos) Thanks again Ian M
