  • The November 2019 Lightroom updates are now available. Lightroom Classic includes the ability to export the same photos as multiple sizes/formats in a single export, content aware fill for panorama edges and more. It does require a catalog format upgrade and there are updated system requirements, so you may want to wait a few days before upgrading.
Lightroom (cloud-based service) has export options (such as TIFF format, renaming and color space), custom sort order on the desktop, copy/paste to multiple photos on iOS and more.
The Missing FAQ and Edit Like a Pro eBooks are already updated for the changes.
  • Are you using the cloud-based Lightroom apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Apple TV and Web? Then you'll love my new book, Adobe Lightroom - Edit Like a Pro!

You'll learn how to use the Lightroom cloud ecosystem to organize, edit and share your photos. You'll also come to understand the thought processes used by professional photographers when they're editing their own photos, so you can transform your photos quickly and easily. And better still, the eBooks are updated for every release, so it's always up to date.

I have a catalog in LR classic that is "embedded" in a collection set that is actually embedded in another collection set. Can I sync this embedded collection to LR mobile? Or do I need to sync the whole collection set architecture?

Yes you can sync single collections within collection sets. Collection Sets cannot be synced, but the collections they contain can be individually synced.
Mmmm. Ran a test case last night. LR classic synced a collection that was in two levels down of collection set (set 1 ... sub set 2 ... then collection vs a collection at high level. Same pics, same number (different collection names). The set at high level synced with LR mobile, the buried collation set did not (or at least after 12 hrs has not).

Also, the collection that synced was “custom ordered “ on LR classic but it did not show up that way on LR mobile (looks like time it was added to LR order). What’s up with that? Am I expecting to much from the sync activity between LR classic and LR mobile?

Can you explain in a bit more detail how you synced those two collections? The easiest way would be by checking the sync box in front of the collection names, the first one checked would cause the images within it to be uploaded as smart previews to the cloud, the second one checked wouldn't need to upload anything other than the name of the collection, which should then appear as an album in whatever cloudy app you're using.

All the cloud apps will have a default sort order, but just like Classic you can select a different order. Simply set the app to sort on Custom Order, which should then appear in the custom order you previously set in Classic.

Thanks for the help. I that LR mobile could do the custom sort just had to look a little better to find it. As for the catalog sync issue, I got it. And I understand more about how LR cloud works. I do still have issues with “My” LR classic as I transferred catalog to new HD and updated LR at same time. Just trying To get everything working as before.
