Sync folder & lost changes

Hi All,

Please help! I just reinstalled my OS (Mac OSX 1'.5.6) along with Lightroom 2.3

I opened up a catalog and it said "File missing or offline" when I tried to edit. So, being a somewhat NEWBIE, I tried to do a "update folder location" and then I followed that with "Synchronize folder" after that finished all my changes (filter, edits, and categories) are GONE! I tried undoing but I get nothing.

Please help! Thanks so much in advance!

But did you reinstall all the folders containing your photos? They were not inside Lightroom when you first Imported them!...

I also think that Lightroom shall not allow a synchronize on offline stuff! Seem obvious but if it does wipe out, I see it as a bug! :shock:

If Synchronize was applied to a 'found' parent folder and had 'delete missing files' checked, then it could have Denis.

Ah! As I never had to synchronize yet, I missed that option! :idea:

It always scares me when people recommend synchronizing without specifying which options to check!!!

Missing all photos, lrcat and presets

Hi I am a newbe with a similar problem. Having recently upgraded to Lightroom 2.3...

I lost my library of images (3'''+) and the catalog (lrcat) is missing and empty. I had a message this morning when I turned on LR asking if I wanted to do my usual backup but put it off to do later. Now everything is missing...

I had the same problem one week ago and was able to reconstruct my catalog from a saved lrcat but now there is no backup of anything.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Snazier, welcome to the forum!

We'll need to know a little more about your system - particularly Mac or PC. Most put those details in their signature.

Have you done a search for other lrcat files on your system - it sounds like it's simply opened the wrong catalog.

Another quick check is to have a look at Lightroom's main menu > File > Open Recent, and see if anything in that list looks either familiar, or on the other hand, unrecognized.
