Switch to Library - Default to Grid View

Hi,
When switching from develop back to the Library view, is there a way to make it default to GRID instead of Loupe view? It always shows the photo I was editing in the develop module but I'd prefer it to default to Grid view when I switch back to the library.

That’s what I currently do. Just was wondering if there was a default option somewhere I may have missed.

What are you looking for exactly?
G is the default for going back to the Grid view, just like you asked for

I think OP was asking for a defulat if using the Module picker at the top right. The default using the Module Picketer is to take you back to the most recently used Library Module View. This is not changebable as there are speed keys for all the views and using a speed key is still only 1 keystorke or click.

G = Grid view
E = Loupe View (I call Enlarge view to help remember speed key)
C = compare View
N = Survey View (I call "Next to" view to help remember speed key)

It’s because in Develop, O is the shortcut for Tools > Mask Overlay > Show Overlay (which I use all the time now). The other Mask shortcuts use modifier keys on top of that base Overlay "O" shortcut.

Of course that then begs the question of why use "O" for People view when it's already in use in the Develop Module for something else? I'm not going to spend the time researching, but perhaps there was another letter that was not already taken in either Library or Develop modules.

It’s not the only example of Lightroom Classic using a single-key shortcut for different things in different modules. For example, S means Stack (expand/collapse) in Library Grid, but S means Soft Proofing in Develop. This makes it easy to use the wrong shortcut when frequently switching modules, but I guess the big problem is there are a lot of features, but only 26 letters to use for single-key shortcuts. Like if you aren’t going to use O for People, which other letter do you use? All of the other unique letters in “People” are already shortcuts.

I often wish more Adobe applications would follow the lead of Adobe After Effects, where they can have more single-key shortcuts because they let you double up letters; for example, in After Effects to reveal all modified properties you can type UU.

Here are all the uses of O: Library > People View, Develop > Cropping > Cycle Grid Overlay, Develop > Masking > Show Overlay, Merge To HDR > Show Deghost Overlay, and Map > Show Saved Location Overlay.

There is no single-letter key that is unused in both Library and Develop.

(The Any Shortcut plugin makes it easy to see which keys are unused in each module and across all modules.)
