Survey View, How to unlink pick and reject flags so they don't label entire survey with one click

while in survey view i understand that clicking the x on the bottom right of an image removes it from the survey and the remaining images resize to fill the space. my question concerns the pick and reject flags on the bottom left below the image. it used to be that when i picked or rejected the highlighted image it affected only that one image and the highlight moved to the next image where i could do the same. i must have done something because now when i pick or reject on one image it affects all the other images in the survey as well.

You have ‘Auto Sync’ turned on. Look at the little switch just left of the Sync button, or go to the menu ‘Metadata - Enable Auto Sync’ and uncheck it.
