i was printing happily in LR 1.4 when i wanted to changed profiles. i hit "other" and the popup "choose profiles" came up. however it is totally unresponsive! and i can't leave the print module.

so far i have:
1) force quit and relaunched - comes up where it left off frozen in "choose profiles"
2) deleted the plist. catalog opens fine - but when i go to print module it comes up with the popup frozen on there still, and am unable to return to another module. i am however able to work with the program as it opens in library module, but i can go to the print module, even call up the custom profiles (another popup opens but it works!). however, once in the print module there it stays...
3) used a backup catalog. opens fine - except no previews are there for the offline images - and, of course, when i go to the print module the popup returns frozen and i am unable to leave the print module.

each time i have opened LR i have checked the integrity of the catalog and it checks out ok. other catalogs open and work fine.

how can i get out of this?

If other catalogs are working fine then I would suggest you export this catalog (include previews) as a catalog and see if you have the same problem.

That's a weird one - I'd report that if I were you. Official Feature Request/Bug Report Form

Is your backup catalog fairly current? Would you lose anything by reverting to the backup catalog? If not, I'd save the dodgy catalog somewhere safe, and replace it with a COPY of your backup. That should tie up with your existing previews file, I'd hope.

thank you both for your replies. those were 2 very good suggestions. i haven't tried david's method yet but it is a good one to keep in mind. i do backup the catalog every time i open LR, and i did open LR from the backup last made when i launched. nothing changed. i hesitated to go back further, wanting to explore other avenues first, because i would then lose the work i had done up to that point of printing. i was able to narrow the problem to a specific collection within the catalog, and the other collections within that catalog worked fine. so i made a new collection, put the contents of the bad collection into the new one, and deleted the original collection...voilá the new version of the collection works fine!!!
i have no idea how a collection becomes corrupt, but indeed it had.
