Strange behavior in 1.4.1

I had a drive die. reinstalled the OS (XP Pro) and all apps including lightroom. everything seemed to be fine until this weekend. I got back from the auto show and imported the pictures. oddly, I can't get them to load a full size version. nor will they load in the develop module. i see them in the bar on the bottom in the library module. but when I cselect them, nothing. when I try to import them, I get a message that they are already in the catalog. any ideas about this?

See if force-rendering the preview cache helps. In Library grid view, select a handful of images, Library menU > Library > Previews > Render 1:1 previews .

What filetypes are the images, raw types (CR2, NEF, etc.) or JPG, or other?

Or... did you import "from actual location" from a CF card or another medium no more connected? :roll:
