Lightroom Version Number
5.4
Operating System
  1. macOS 12 Monterey
Scenario:
  1. In Lr, right click photo and choose "Edit in Photoshop"
  2. In Ps make edits, save, and close
  3. Edited TIFF is automatically imported into Lr and into the Album of the original
  4. The original and TIFF are automatically grouped
I want to do steps 1-3, and not have 4 automatically happen. Is this possible?

Yes. Go to Preferences - External Editor and uncheck the stack option at the bottom.

@Johan Elzenga - If the OP is using v5.4 "Lightroom"-Cloudy, I do not believe there is an option to 'not stack'.
Certainly there is in Lightroom-Classic.
Although you can unstack in 5.4 by a [Right-Click]

Right! I missed that. In cloudy there is indeed no option to turn this off.
Submitting a feature Request to Adobe might get some movement on the issue. It is my preference never to stack in LrC and this has not been an issue for me yet in Lr. I do think the user should have the option.

After they are ungrouped, all versions are selected. You have to click outside the group and then back if you only want to select one.

I was just hoping to eliminate these steps

Sort of new to this community. Where do I register a feature request?

At the top of this screen there is a "BUG REPORT/FEATURE REQUEST" link-
To switch over to the Adobe Community at LIGHTROOM ECOSYSTEM and post an 'Idea'
