Hey Folks,

I've got version 1.4.1 of Lightroom. I have set the star rating for a number of photos. However, when I try to call them up, nothing pops up. I can look at all my photos in Grid mode and see the photos marked with the stars I have set, however. So, what do I need to view by a rating that I have applied?

How are you trying to call them up Literoom?

That only filters the current view - but I'm sure you probably know that! So you need to see ALL of the pictures in the Grid before you start filtering them.

Check the little => sign next to it, to make sure you're not filtering in the wrong direction. And make sure the toggle switch at the right hand end of that filter strip isn't turned off.

OK, well - I seem to be having SOME success. Does the "Turn Off Filters" icon apply to ALL filters; flag picks, colors & star ratings?

Just wanted to make sure you didn't forget me :cheesy:

If this helps - I've got 15, 5-Star rated photos. U try to cue them up.....in the main window (Library Mode), I get a message:
"No photos match the filter"......in the window below I get the following message:

"All photographs/' of 15 photos"

Sorry Tom, I went to bed, like normal sane people do. ;)

So you can see the 5 star rated pictures along with all the others, and then you just press the 5th star in the filter bar and they all disappear? Can you screenshot the filter bar for us please? Something else is going on.

Hey Sean,

I appreciate you trying to help. However, I am not exactly Mr Computer Savy, and I'm having a heck of a time trying to get a screen shot to you. The furthest I got was to place the shot in Word. However, I could not upload it from there or paste it elsewhere to upload from there. Any suggestions. Sorry this is becoming such a pain.

Tom, if your problem is uploading the screen shot,

Select 'New Reply' here on the forum, down below the text entry box is a section called "Attach Files". Click manage attachments, and you will get a pop-up window, with a file browser. Navigate to your screen shot file on your local computer. In this case it must be a jpg, or png file of less than approx 25'kB. Select the file, click upload. When the upload is complete, click close on the manage attachments window. You should return here to the reply page, finish your message and post.

If your problem is actually making the screen capture, I'm going to have to defer to other members for advice. I've been using a commercial product for that for so long, I've lost track of the free ways to do it.

Well I am able to get as far as you described above. My problem, however, is saving as a jpeg. I seem to only be able to save as a Document in Word.

Rather than pasting into Word, try pasting into Paint. Then you'll easily save as a jpeg.

Tom, the filter bar you've captured is asking the following question:

From all the images currently cataloged in LR, show me the ones:

1. that are unflagged or rejected

and

2. are exactly equal to 5 stars

and

3. have either a green or red label

and

4. are virtual copies and not master images


I don't suppose you have any images which meet those criteria?


I've attached an annotated version of your screen cap, showing the criteria you've selected.

To get your five-star images, try turning off all those other filters which are currently applied. Specifically, the flags, the colors and the virtual copy. Unless I'm missing something, that should solve your problem.

Hey Brad,

OK - I went back into LR and compared step-by-step, your points. I see what you're saying. However, I again, like I did previously, clicked the "Turn Off Filters" icon first. Then, I clicked on the 5th star to make all 5 stars highlight. When I did that, the other items you listed above became highlighted. So, I am very puzzled.

Tom, the filter switch isn't a "reset" button. It's literally a switch that turns filters on and off. When you turn it off, it's just plain disabled. When it's on, it's still in whatever state it was when you last used it, it doesn't reset.

You need to reset the filters individually.

That's It!

Mark, that's it!!! I am good to go now! I was not turning off any of the other filters. I took the "Turn off Filters" to mean ALL filters would be turned off.
