Does LR 2.' (and will 2.1 ?) utilize the Graphic Accelarator card (like aperture does) Or can I still safely stick with my Macbook pro 128mb Nvidia card ?

Aperture's dreadfully slow without a serious graphic card which I find silly seeing that it should be used for 3d accelaration.

Furthermore , does the 64 bit increase speed alot? Then I need to get Leopard. Still afraid of it because of all the bug rumours...

Is it stable with LR 1.3? And LR 2.'

Lots of questions I know... :?

If your MBP 2.16ghz is one of the first generation, they weren't 64-bit aware, so you'd be running the 32-bit anyway. So in that case, no worries about Leopard either (although I like it, bugs and all!!!)

Yes, it's fairly stable, and shouldn't affect your 1.3.1 installation.

And as far as I know, you don't need the serious graphics card that you would with Aperture. LR's a bit friendlier on lower specs.

`2n3/ 3d generation

My MBP is a 2.16 15" Core 2 duo not the Core Duo. Are these 64 bit aware? Hope so! Will it help much in leopard.

Another question about speed. When Running Bridge, CS3 and Lightroom together my system takes some serious strain. How can i Speed it up? More mem. Wil different Mem setting help in Photoshop?

I would definitely max out the RAM. OWC used to offer rebates on your original chips if you bought a 4GB set. I don't know if they still do that or not. Seemed like a better deal to me than trying to deal with Ebay or something like that.

Running PS and LR together works pretty well for me. When I open Bridge or Illustrator, it starts to bog things down a little bit.

Googled it and it appears Core2Duo are 64-bit aware. Don't just take my word for it though.

More RAM makes the biggest difference, plus 72'' rpm drives rather than 54'' rpm, as a lot of LR's work is I/O based.

Speed wise, 64-bit difference isn't HUGE, but it depends on what you're doing. It makes a difference on big files, and processing big files. Building previews, imports etc is largely disc bound, so not as affected. Windows version manages memory better too, for any Windows users who may read this thread.

I think the C2Duo MBPros only go to 3gb and not four unfortunately.

:-( At least mine does and it's a 2nd generation one.

Ah, ok. Well I'm glad I could at least hit 3... but wish I could have 4. The next gen will probably go to 5. ;-)

My first gen 2.' GHZ MBP(core duo) could only take 2GB of RAM. My current one(Santa Rosa, I think) that I bought back in September can take 4GB.
