Snapshots

I think that I know the answer to this already, but I might as well ask. Is there any way to batch or automate the creation of snapshots?


...besides removing files from the catalog and re-importing them.

Do you mean Snapshots in the Lightroom Develop module sense, being a saved edit history state at a point in time?

Yes. That's what I mean.

I usually import pictures with a default preset, but I rarely leave them at that. I've found virtual copies to be confusing and awkward, and I prefer to use Snapshots instead. If I have a collection of images that I've made adjustments to and I want to set those adjustments as a snapshot, then as far as I can tell, I have to do that on each picture individually.

I suppose that I should make a request for scripting in general. There are other things that I would like to automate as well.

Equally, it sounds like you really need to get your head around virtual copies.

There are lots of things that I need to get my head around.

A list of snapshots for one photo makes more sense to me than a bunch of copies of the same photo with different settings and no indication in the develop module as to whether they are copies or loaded into stacks. I just found the filter by virtual copies button, so that's a start. If I want to update the snapshots on those, then I still have to go through each one individually.
