Slow preview rendering

Hi there ,

I am noticing in 1.3 that the preview a taking a long time when enlarged.
I mean from the GRID and double click "rendering large preview" seems to
take longer than I would expect on my system. My hardware should be able to take of it quicker, I have a Gforce GT86'' and 2 GB RAM , with CPU Core 2 duo 632'....

Are there settings in LR that I can change to make rendering quicker or in Windows XP for that matter ?

Have previews rendered on import or select All and Render Standard previews before going on.

Hard drive speed is also a factor - it's reading the original raw file to create the preview. Rendering the previews when you're not sat staring at it is much less painful though!

No , not even RAW files , it taking seconds too long rendering the JPEGs
(LARGE fine) ... My harddisk is from last year

It sounds like your standard previews are too small.

Under File > Catalog Settings there is an option on the File Handling tab to set the size of your standard previews. Try setting that to a value higher than your screen width resolution if not already. If you change the setting, you'll need to re-render standard previews from the Library > Previews menu item.

Note that this is setting is catalog specific so if you have multiple catalogs, you'll need to set it and re-render in all of them.

well
make a 1:1 Render, select the some photos in library module , library -->render-->1:1

and select in your catalog the right resolution of your monitor

i had the same problem , it works to me

Working with it , it's really not good, panning the zoomed preview also is still lagging /// Is this a bug , if it is I really hope someone would take care of it

Reading your sig, 1Gb RAM on a Windows machine is not enough. I suggest 2Gb would be closer to what you need.

try to make a collection of few pics(detele 1:1 render or re-render 1:1) or a new catalog of few pics(and import the files in 1:1 render)

well i think it's not a bug , the slideshow could be slow if there is not a 1:1 render or there are off-line photos or you miss some pics


I had your same problem , solved with a new catalog and import my photos @ 1:1 render

Highlight some or one/none for all and go to Menu/Library/Previews/Render (your choice).

It always takes me a minute to find it too.

In Library module, Library pulldown | Previews > (3 from bottom) | Pick a render resolution

I know where the darn thing is and it still took me a minute or so to find it again. (Don't do it that oftem.)
