I made a slide show (lots of photos of our summer) and it won't email because it's too big. Would it work if I batched the collection to small jpegs first? If so, how do I do that? I'm sure it's simple I just can't find it!

Thanks!
Susan~

You could export the images to smaller jpegs and have them reimported into LR. Then group them into a collection and do the slide show from there. You can find that option in the export dialog.

You could also reduce the size and/or quality in the Export to PDF Slideshow dialog. That might be quicker! Or use a free account like www.box.net to upload it, and send the person a link.

Back to working on this slideshow...ugh. I exported to a folder on my desktop in smaller jpegs. Lost my captions upon reimporting and some files are missing...

The file &#822';Bills Plane-5-Edit.tif” is associated with another photo in the catalog.

The file IS NOT in the catalog. So now I've got missing files..mostly ones I've edited in PS3 or just from a random file.

When exporting, do not mark the checkbox titled "Minimize embedded metadata".

I exported as jpegs then re-imported as suggested to make this slide show smaller in size. Now files are missing and LR finds the missing file for me then tells me I can't import it because there is already a file of that name there-but there isn't.
ALSO now I can't move photos around. I'm sooooo done with this. I've spent hours captioning and preparing this slide show and now it is sooo messed up. I'm being a total girl and crying.
:-(

One important thing you don't say is: Were your originals RAW or JPEG?

If JPEG, better to rename at export time to differentiate and probably import in a different temporary folder. If RAW then two options: Same as above or in the preferences, tick the checkbox "Treat JPEGs as separate".

A few were tiffs the rest large jpegs...so I wanted to make smaller files so the slideshow wasn't so big.
The empty (can't find) files are empty everywhere in LR. and I can't reimport them. It tells me
The file &#822';Bills Plane-5-Edit.tif” is associated with another photo in the catalog.
Maybe if I could change the name of the file before importing but it doesn't give me the option.
Why won't it let me move files around by dragging?
Thank you for your help..I am so frustrated.

I gave up and started again.
I upgraded to LR2 also. (do I just get rid of the old LR? just drag the app to the trash?)
So now I'm back to a big slide show with various file types and sizes. I'm going to try it again. Export to desktop file the re-import.

Susan, did you try dropping the quality and size in the Slideshow Export dialog. That should solve your problem without all of the exporting and reimporting.
