Hi, I found this site and after signing up I cant fine the answer you were giving to someone else.
if you dont mind.

1) I shoot 2 D3'''s and I and having a hard time making the pictures go in sequential order.
I want to do it by time shot, and I have set both cameras to the same exact time right down to the second.

2) can you only put them in sequential order at time uploading the pictures into a room?
Can you change that at any time after uploading is completed?
Please explain how to do this.
Can you please help me on this one/ I would greatly appreciate it.

Scott, Welcome.

Regardless of how you import the images into Lr, there are various options to sort the images available from the Library module View menu. You can also select the sort options from the Tool Bar below the image/grid (press T if it's not displayed.)

One of the sort options availble is Capture Time, that should be what you're looking for. If that's not it, please explain a little more what the problem is.

Hi Digital Scott! Welcome to the forums! When you get a chance please fill in your signature using the USER CP link above.

You're off to a good start. Making sure that both cameras are using the same time will get you where you want to go.

Once you've imported the images from both cameras go down to the toolbar and click on the double arrow next to the sort preference.

Make sure that Capture Time is selected. That will read the time from each image and sort them regardless of which camera was used to take the shot!

I do use capture time. but when I export from raw to fine JPEG on to the desktop in a folder I have made up,after it exports to this folder it asks me if I want to burn to disc.
here is the problem I am having.. both the disc and the floder are not in the same order I had them in (time captured) do I need to rename all photos? and I dont see where to do that.

Aah, a different problem.

Since most downstream applications will only be able to sort on OS file attributes, such as File Name, Modify Date, etc. there's no way for Lr to communicate that optional sort order.

Yes, you'll have to rename the files to incorporate some sortable element within the filename. To do this, in Library Grid view select all the images you intend to export, and either:
a) press F2, or
b) menu Library > Rename

which will open a Renaming dialog. This gives you the ability to create custom naming templates, which employ numerous data tokens, to give you access to various file name, sequence/time/date, metadata and custom text variables. When you have created something you like, you can save the template as a preset for future re-use. In your case, you could simply use a sequence number, which would allow your OS to see the images in the order you intended. (You might consider a more complicated template which would help you 'find' those exported photos in the future.)

If I understand what you are asking, Scott, then yes, you would need to rename the files. Your OS is probably sorting by filename and not the embedded capture time.

Once you have them sorted you can select them and either choose RENAME PHOTOS... from the LIBRARY menu or press F2. From there you can name them with a sequential naming scheme if you like.

Sorry, 1 more question abot sorting...

At weddings I shoot my 'Graycard" and I shoot in Raw. I move around alot and from 1 room to anothershooting the "GC" in all the rooms I go in to. how can I move pictures around in lightroom2?
here is what I am trying to do-I have 1' pictures of 1 room and then 5 of room 2 then I go back to room 1 .
I have tryed to select all of room 1 and not room 2 by holding down the shiftkey and I cant .
what am I doing wrong?:_

Depends on where you click, clicking on the grey frame or the actual thumbnail image have different results. Although to choose one at a time, Ctrl is the correct key.

It helps if you know that Lr has two (or three) levels of selection. Not selected(dark gray frame), Selected (light gray frame), Most Selected (very light gray, almost white). There's a distinction between Selected and Most Selected, because for some sync'd operations, what you do to the Most Selected applies to the Selected simultaneously.

ok, I see now. I was using the Shiftkey- when I use the Ctrl*key it worksthe way I want ed it too..

I dont think I am using the WB picker right.

when I use the WB picker it shows a big box with alot of little boxes in it. but I dont know how it pick out 1 of the little boxes from the bigger box.--if that makes any sence.:)

The grid of boxes is a highly magnified (5 pixel by 5 pixel) view of your image under the tip of the eyedropper, as you drag the eyedropper around the image. The center box, with the plus sign is the pixel which will be chosen as the target neutral, the others are to help you zoom in on the very specific point that you want.

If the in camera white balance setting is anywhere near correct, typically they are close to each other. The whole point of the WB picker is to say I don't care what the current values of this pixel are, I know this should be a neutral shade (it's my gray card after all), so adjust the entire image so that the values are now equal in this pixel.
