I regularly auto-backup the LR catalog .lrcat to my HD. What about the other folders I see in "My Pictures", ".lrdata" and "LR Settings" ? Is it important to back these up as well?

17 June 2026 It's Lightroom update time again. There are some major new features, as well as bug fixes, new cameras and lenses.

These other folders are continually changing and only supply the thumbnails and previews. If you lost them, LR could rebuild them from the lrcat catalogue. So there's no need to back them up.

Except for your originals. Those might be in "My Pictures". The catalog backup only backs up the catalog itself, not your original image files.
