Hi
I recently moved from a Mac Pro with Adobe Creative Cloud to a HP Z440 Workstation, with Windows 10 Pro and.Adobe Creative Cloud, fully updated with the latest version of Lightroom and Photoshop. My problem is that when I insert a memory card into the built in memory card reader I do not get the aforementioned import dialog. I have to select import in the Library module to get to the import screen.. Does anyone know why this might be happening?
Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot

It happens to me almost all the time on a Mac. Conditions for triggering the dialog have baffeled me for several LR versions. In windows10, you need to make sure that Autorun is set to open LR whenever an image card is detected by the OS.

Hi Cletus
Thanks for responding.Yes I have it set to Autorun. I guess I'll just learn to live with it.

My understanding of how it works is:

Auto-launch of Lightroom is controlled in the Windows Autoplay settings (OS)
Auto-launch of Import is controlled in the Lightroom preferences (Application)

If both are set:
If a card is inserted with Lightroom closed, it will launch Lightroom to the previous module/view used.
If a card is inserted with Lightroom open, it will activate the import dialog.

AFAIK there is not a way in Windows to auto-launch both the Application and the Import window both on a single card insertion.

When 6.0 was released, the checkbox DID control the auto-launch of both the application and import window on a single card insertion, but only on Windows. I checked it when I was writing, and ending up saying:

On Windows, this checkbox controls whether the Import dialog opens automatically when a card is detected, and also whether the program launches from closed (using Windows Auto Play).

On a Mac, the checkbox only controls whether Lightroom opens the Import dialog when the program is already open. To set Lightroom to launch from closed, insert the memory card or plug in the device. Go to the Applications folder, open the Image Capture app, and select the memory card or device on the left-hand side. In the lower left corner, click the arrow, and select Lightroom as the program to automat- ically open when that device is detected.

That could have since then though.

Hi Rikk and Victoria
Thanks for taking the time to respond, Well I am doing something wrong, or Lightroom is, or my Windows 10 workstation is? The workflow goes as follows. I have Lightroom Open and in the Library Module. I insert the card into my 15 in 1 built in card reader nothing happens, until I click on Import button in the lower left hand corner. The Import module recognizes the card as Drive J and is set to import, but not without first clicking on Import in the Library module. I've attached two screen shots with the relevant LR and OS settings, Something is amiss.
Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

It's solved. It works. Apparently, the only way it works on my HP is to insert the memory card and it opens Lightroom and brings me right to the Import dialog. Thanks Rick and Victoria!!
