I've upgraded to LR 2 and basically everything seems to be ok.

In my normal work flow, I download from the camera card to a folder and afterwards import in LR. Depending on which card I put in my built in card reader, sometimes LR 2 comes up, sometimes LR1.4 comes up. In either case, I ignore it until the files have downloaded. But I would prefer LR 1.4 not come up at all unless I want it to. Is there a way to change that behavior? Or, put another way, is there any good reason why I should keep LR 1.4 installed?

Why don't I import directly into LR? Because the cards often have several different groups of photos and I find it easier to create the new folders for them manually. If there were some kind of preview, I might use that to pick where I'm going to store what. Except on the 32G card...

You can turn off automatic launching of 1.4 (or 2.') when a card is detected in the import preferences.

As for uninstalling, I only just upgraded and have left 1.4 installed for now. Once I'm happy that I'm not having any significant problems with 2.', I'll probably uninstall it.

As Alan said, you can uncheck the LR launch in the Import Preference box. Also, look in Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Adobe Photo Downloader if it's there from a PS/PSE installation.

I hung onto 1.4 for about three weeks after converting to 2.' to make sure there were no problems. There weren't so I uninstalled 1.4 and have noticed a little better speed when opening files in the Library and Develop. Time spent "Rendering Preview", "Rendering Larger Preview" and "Loading" has noticeably decreased. I kept my old catalog but changed the extension just in case....

HTH,
