Shooting Jpeg and editing in Lightroom

Can I import Jpeg images into lightroom? Make correction in Dev. and export them? Will the adjustments I make in Lightroom be saved? Is this a good program to work on Jpegs? I shot a sports job Jpegs was the way to go. Check several forums no luck on finding an ans. bob

No problem. It wont actually touch the originals, just like Raws. Not as much to work with , though.

He's right, it handles jpgs just fine, and since they're usually smaller than raw files, they're faster.

As he mentions, it won't affect the originals, which is a good thing. Your edits will be saved in Lightroom. Since the originals aren't touched, you can easily make changes to your edits, such as adjusting crop. It's great to be able to decide "I cropped a bit too much" and easily go wider.

Want to create a jpg with the edits you made in LR? Just use the "export" command in LR and it will save a jpg (or other flavor should you choose) with the edits you've made. You can select a destination directory and file name, it won't over-write your originals unless you specifically tell it to do so.

They won't effect the originals unless you save them back to the same file with the same filenames. I had to work on some photos that were a mix of JPEG and raw because some were taken before I switched to raw. Works fine but with JPEG I can't adjust in the histogram.

Er, yes, BIG warning with this one. When you export, don't set it to the original folder and allow it to overwrite the originals, as it'll get stuck in a nasty loop and create a huge mess. When you export the jpegs, export them to another folder. If you then want to overwrite the originals (why?!?), then move them once the export has completed.
