I know there are tons of sharpening methods out there, but I'm curious about whether or not what I'm doing is overkill or actually ruining my images. First off, the type of sharpening I'm talking about is for the web. Secondly, the files are NEF's converted to jpg.
In Lightroom, there's the sharpen module (right above noise reduction) Default is 25, but at times I'll bump it up to about 35-4' and usually never above 5' at most. When I export my stuff, I always use Mogrify. Part of the workflow with Mogrify is using unsharp mask. Here are the values I've been using:
I think I found these values somewhere online, but can't remember where. Is it doing more harm than good using both sharpening tools ? Is one method better than the other ? And lastly, for unsharp mask, do those values look decent ? I really have no idea what Sigma is doing in the process, and I've tried to find info on it via Google, but couldn't find much in the way of layman's terms.
Thoughts would be appreciated.
