Sharpening In LightRoom

I used to use Capture 1 Pro and I loved the results but with their lack up updating with new camera profiles and the mess they made with Version 4 I switched to Lightroom in November.

Of course it was right in the middle of my busiest time of year so I have been forced to just "Wing IT" a little just to get to get my work done.

What settings are you using for sharpening your images?

I have played around a little and I am not very happy with the results. I find its very easy to over do it and under do it. So right now I am not touching the sharpening settings on my imports and I am batching my jpegs in CS2 to sharpen them up.

I also feel the same about the noise reduction in Lightroom.

I would like to hear how others are doing it.

Currently LR has good Capture Sharpening, but lacks significantly Output sharpening.

Ok sounds like I will stick with my Batch process! Once I figure out how to get droplets working with CS3 (CS2 droplets do not work with Vista) I will get the process sorted out.

LR sharpening is really to be used just to get the errors out of the RAW file and give a good starting point in PS. With a little practice you can get some very good results right from the RAW without going into PS. Unfortunaetly what works for one person or camera doesn't work for another.

i honestly fin i get the best results just by using canon's DPP. i make process the RAW in DPP then export as a tiff, import the tiff into Lightroom and make more adjustments in LR. i rarely have to go into PS. I find DPP has good sharpening and almost never need to really sharpen in LR

I haven't tried this yet, but check Tim's LR/Mogrify plugin Kelly - I'm sure I saw USM as one of the options, and it would save tying up PS if it's good enough.

what i did find is that the sharp tool is great but when i export photos , the result is not what i can watch inside lightroom:roll:
