Sharpening/Blurring w/Adjustment Brush

When I attempt to either Sharpen or Blur with the Adjustment Brush, it seems to have no effect on the image (no matter how far I move the slider in either direction)? Is there something that I need to be doing? Thanks, Jack

Jack, I've found that effect pretty subtle. Not strong enough to do something like selective DOF blurring. Sharpening/blurring in this context has to do with (de-)emphasizing edge contrast between neighboring colors, which only has so much material to work on.

I believe, that like conventional Lr sharpening, you need to be zoomed in at least to 1:1 to have the (de-)sharpening rendered.

I used 1:2 and could definitely see blurring; just not as much as I had hoped. Thank you for your explanation of how the tool works in LR. If I want more blur, I will just go into PS, apply Gaussian Blur, and mask out the part that I want to be sharp. Jack

Try using Clarity with the brush.
