Setting up proper printer margins in LR2.0 for printing from Canon Pro9000

I am having a hard time setting up margins for printing from LR2.'. If i want to print a 8x1' picture (as an example) i would adjust settings in printer properties box and then adjust same settings in LR2.'. When i set the setting in LR it never fills up the entire paper and when printed it has empty spaces on paper on both sides.
What can i be doing wrong, isn't 8x1' the same as settings on your printer as is in LR ?

As you can see i just started using LR and i am having printer problems which at times can be very frustrating.

Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!!

This is because your picture is 2x3 and 8x1' paper is 4x5 aspect ratio. Something's going to have to give.

Two options:

1. You must crop your picture to 8x1' in the Develop Module or

2. You must enable "Zoom to Fill" in the Image Settings Panel on the RH side of the Print Module and then perform the crop by dragging the image around on the page.
