I am having problems setting up my print workflow. I recently purchased a new MacBook and upgraded to Lightroom 2.' and am having problems getting print to work again.

My problem is that in Lightroom, I have selected the color management to be handled by the printer, but I can't get to the Epson print dialog box where I can choose my settings. In the past, I would go through the Lightroom or Photoshop print dialog, then it would automatically go to the Epson print dialog where I could select the paper size, profiles, etc, then it would print. Now, I only have the Lightroom print dialog. I do not have an 'advanced' or 'properties' option in the window as was mentioned on several posts, websites, and in the adobe and epson support materials. The options I have are:
- Layout
- Color Matching
- Paper Handling
- Paper Feed
- Cover Page
- Scheduler
- Printer Features
- Summary

The print that I get is very light and obviously not the right profile. When I print from Photoshop, I get the same result. The quality of the print is the same and I don't get the Epson dialog box.

I have read through instructions, tutorials, several forums, etc but can't seem to find this answer. I'm sure this is something very very basic, but I can't seem to get it right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much. I hope this is not too basic and hope I have not overlooked the answer someplace. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.

Thanks,

Hi 88photo, welcome to the forum!

You're not the only one - printing seems to mystify everyone. I rarely print myself, so I'll leave someone else to wade in on this one, although you'll probably find a series of useful threads in the search facility too.

For a start though, upgrade to 2.1 - it's fixed a lot of the nasty bugs in 2.'.

Hi Victoria,

Thanks for the welcome and suggestion of upgrading to 2.1.

I have now upgraded to 2.1 and am having the same problems.

I've also tried the newest ICC profiles from Epson to try to see if I could just bypass the Epson dialog box and just use lightroom. (SPR18'' PrmGlsy Photo.icc) No such luck. Exact same result. [sigh]

Are you using LR in 32bit or 64bit mode. Are you trying to do 16bit printing? What happens in 32bit mode and 8bit printing?

Just trying to narrow the field of enquiry. Your monitor is profiled properly, I presume.

Ah, no. I haven't done that before. A very quick search of the internet leads me to try Photoshop Gamma because of the free / basic - ness of it. Is there a better way to go? I will calibrate my laptop screen and report back...
