Server issue

Got ride of the old and just installed the release version.

Now when I launch LR 2 I get server busy error retry or switch loop. Any thoughts?

James, welcome to LR Forums, good to see you over here. If I recall, you're running Vista64 on a pretty beefy machine?

Can you tell us a little more about what's happening? It's not ringing a bell so far.

Had this issue come up one time briefly awhile back and could not pin it down to anything.
This time I watched the process services in Task Manager and the minute LR.exe hit the server error popped up. Hitting "switch or retry" does nothing. Use the kill switch on LR.exe in the processes listings makes the error disappear.

Every time I try to launch LR the error pops up.


Vista x64 and yes its got the beef.

When you say server error, what does that refer to specifically?

Hmmm, geez, that helps a lot. Have you tried holding down ctrl while starting LR, to see if you can select/create a new/different catalog? If you can, that might help narrow down the problem to a specific catalog.

Already tried that. You run LR.exe and get that message. You kill LR.exe using task manager and the message goes away.

I just Googled this error, and came up with a number of similar issues with different software. Unfortunately, all requests for help ended with the original poster not getting help, so I couldn't find anything to help you out. (Can I type "help" one more time...)

Let's give this one a bit and see if someone has the answer for you. My Windows knowledge has all but faded away since switching to the Mac.

Server busy error

Well I sorta solved the problem; but I may found another.

The error went away when I rebooted my machine.

So lets see.......

Un-install one version

Install new version

Server error generated. Uninstalled, reinstalled new version 3 times.

Rebooted machine and Server error goes away. Could the old version LR.exe be running somehow even though it was un-installed. Very bizarre.

Maybe it's possible there was still stuff in memory, preferences or suchlike
