OK, I cannot be the only person in the entire forum not knowing how to send a screen shot. With some help, I am able to take a screen shot. Using LR, I can re-size the image as I export it out. What are the next steps. How do I get the screen shot from my computer to current thread in the forum? Step by step instructions-please:!:

Bob,

1) for an image, it has to be jpg or png format, and less than about 24'kB.
2) To attach the image, you have to be in 'advanced' reply mode. So click either the new reply button, left side below the message you're replying to; or click quote, right side bottom of the message you're replying to; or if you've clicked quick reply, then click "Go Advanced", below the text entry box.

If you look then look below the text entry box, the second 'additional option' down below, should be 'Attach Files' with a 'Manage Attachments' button. Click that button, which will open a new window/tab/popup, depending on your browser settings. In that pop-up, etc. is a 'choose' button, which will allow you to navigate to the file on your computer, select it, and then click 'Upload'. You can repeat the choose/upload cycle to add additional attachments. (each has a 24'kB limit).

Give that a shot, let us know if I've managed to confuse you.

I am following your instructions. I hope this works.

Brad,

I did it, finally.

Thanks,
Bob

Good stuff Bob, use the 6'' though not the 15 when you post screen shots!!:lol:

I've been meaning to do this in ages - we now have a real quick how to on creating screenshots at the top of the website troubleshooting forum.

I liked this bit

Open an imaging program such as Microsoft Pain

Freudian slip? :D

ROFL Thank you Mike! :D

the screen shot was sent as is( I did not reduce the size); So, is it better for all of you if I can figure out how the snipping tool(vista) can record a bigger file? I thought the image was passable- I could read it.

6''? 15? Looks perfect to me Bob!

hi,

i would just like to share some things on posting images.

as far as i know, i think itll be better if we can host/put the picture we want to show here on our forum to an image hosting site, for example photobucket.com. instead of attaching the image.

as i do believe that doing this, it lessen the bandwidth traffic of the forum. means, faster loading of the site. :)

like this for example:

portrait.jpg

the image i posted above is hosted on my photobucket account. you can create your own account there and you can upload pictures with no payment. no limit as well :)

just my two cents. :)

Excellent point darcke. Of course offloading the bandwidth/storage on a dedicated image hosting site is preferred, but for our forum neophytes, we're taking small first steps here.

Victoria: that 6'' - 15 comment by Geoff is in reference to my lenses.

With over 13' views, it is safe to say I am not the only one in the forum not knowing how to send a screen shot over(prior to this thread).:cheesy:
