Select Catalogue panel - stopping LR 2.5 opening

Have had some problems due to transferring photos etc to a laptop so very wary of messing up further. This moring, I tried to look at the .ircat file stored on external hard drive. Realised this only covered 225 images of c 2'''. Opening the ircat opended LR - which i did not realise. Turned off laptop and now have Select catalogue dialogue box - It is safe to slect the ircat on my C drive, please.
