Seeing layered files in Light Room

I believe that I'm right in switching on the Maximize PSD checkbox to always in Photoshop if I want to view layered PSD files in Light Room. If I save all my files as layered Tiffs in PS, do I also need to have it turned on to view those tiffs in LR?

Yes this is it. This add a flattened rendering to the file for programs that can't work with layers to see and use.

No you don't need it turned on for TIFFS as they automatically include a composite preview.

OOPS! I Answered the PSD rather than TIFF. Victoria is right Jonathan! You just need for PSD.
