The story so far.....
I have been a lurker in this forum since my "free transfer" from Rawshooter Premium, so I have been using Lightroom from version 1.'. My first post is therefore long overdue.
This forum proved to be a lifesaver in getting "up and running" with Lightroom, as well as keeping me abreast of all the potential pitfalls, useful tips & tweaks and all manner of useful "stuff". If I encountered the odd problem with something, I usually found that someone else had already posted a query on it and that an answer was here on the Forum. I am in awe of the combined knowledge and generosity of the regular expert contributors here (you know who you are!) and would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to you all. I have learnt so much and continue to do so.
I have recently moved to a new PC. The old one had reached its fifth birthday and was beginning to creak a bit (Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM, and a 16'GB hard drive). The new one is awesome; Windows 7 64bit, Intel i7 processor, 12 GB RAM, 16'GB SSD + 2 x 1TB hard drives & a 24" widescreen monitor. Hugely over-specified and gloriously indulgent!
After re-reading all the advice on this forum, transferring my Lightroom setup to the new PC was completely painless. Lightroom's performance on the old PC was OK but on the new PC it is staggering!
My favourite tool is the crop tool. It's so easy to tweak the occasional composition and to correct the frequent "left-hand down a bit" that seems to creep into far too many of my hand-held shots.
