Hello.
I got myself into a pickle. I used to have the following hierarchy for my folder structure _inside Lightroom_ (note: I understand that Lightroom is just looking at the real folder structure):
Pictures on Macintosh HD
|
-----> 2''8
| |
| -----> folder 1
| -----> folder 2
-----> specialty folder
|
-----> special subfolder 1
-----> special subfolder 2
Unfortunately, what I did was import some files via "Copy to new location..." into the folder ABOVE "Pictures", that is, my home (username) folder. So now I have this:
kent
|
-----> Pictures on Macintosh HD
|
-----> 2''8
| |
| -----> folder 1
| -----> folder 2
-----> specialty folder
|
-----> special subfolder 1
-----> special subfolder 2
I've since removed the photos from my home folder (username folder) but I want Lightroom to lok the way it USED to look, that is, with my Pictures folder (in fact, "Pictures on Macintosh HD" as it was called automatically) at the top level.
Is this possible? What are the steps?
The only thing I can think to do is move the "Pictures" folder to another drive using the Lightroom move command, then remove the "kent" folder from view, then import 1 image into the "Pictures" folder so it gets recognized again as the top level, and then move back the subfolders from the Pictures folder I moved to the external drive.
I have to believe there is an easier way. I just want "Pictures on Macintosh HD" to be the top level again.
Please, please help.
p.s. If anyone can also tell me why my Pictures folder was called "Pictures on Macintosh HD" automatically by Lightroom and the additional Pictures folder I have on another drive (not shown in my example above) is just called "Pictures" without Lightroom automatically tacking on the "on blah blah blah volume name" I would appreciate it. I wish it did this for all top level folders located on external drives.
Thanks!
