I notice both on my desktop and laptop, both running Win XP Pro SP3 when I have had LR2.', 2.2 and 2.3RC, now, minimized for any length of time that I can not simply click on it on the task bar to restore it, I have to right click on it on the task bar, and then click on restore. Is this a feature of LR, or an undocumented feature? Just wondering, and wanting to bring it to someones attention. It's not really a big deal, and the work around is simple.

It just puts you on a par with us Mac user's. We can't click on it in the Dock when it is in another space, or Command-Tab to it. We have to navigate to it. OS problem in our case. Not sure what's with it on a PC.

Eric, it's probably worth a bug report. Is your feeling that it's strictly time based, or is maybe something else going on?

I see something vaguely similar, but yet different. I'm running 3 monitors, and frequently when I minimize Lr, it doesn't show up on the task bar(s) at all. I have to alt-tab Task Switch to it. I use a 3rd party multimonitor utility called UltraMon, which can be configured to put a local task bar to track apps on each monitor. I just put my bug down to some incompatibility there, but your problem makes me wonder......

Well, Brad, I don't know, I am trying to trouble shoot it just a little more. I am trying to see if it is time related, so far we have passed the 2 minute mark, of course I started this thing wrong, checking after 15 seconds, then waiting 3' seconds, and then 45 etc. I am up to a 2 full minutes now, and waiting on the third minute to pass now. If it happens consistently at the same time, then I will assume it to be time related, but it could also be random. Passed the three minute mark and on the way to 5 minutes now.

Not a big deal. I was just thinking if you could relate it to some specific trigger, that would be helpful, of course. I don't have any advice to help you find it tho.

But, it could be darn near anything, an accidental combination key press in another application, or some configuration state in Lr, or some conflicting software somewhere in your system. The strangest things turn up some times, usually by accident or coincidence.

Ok, it's random as far as I can tell. It did it between 7 and 8 minutes, so just to be sure I tried 8 minutes again and it did not happen, and I tried 9 minutes everything was fine, and I just did 1' minutes with no trouble. I'll do a bug report and keep you posted. Thank you.

It always comes back. It happens several times a day when I am PP images and I shut my PC down every evening. It also happens on my Laptop, and I never move my laptop running. It's not a big deal, I just right click the icon in the task bar and left click restore and it pops back up. It's just that the behavior is different from other Windows programs. So far I have not been able to identify what might be causing it, but there is no problem duplicating it, just minimize LR to the task bar and wait, it will get stuck. :D

As you may know, pressing F in Lightroom cycle through different screen modes. Does it happen in all screen modes?

This little nuisance reared its head twice over the weekend, seems both times I had been working in Photshop for 3' minutes or more, and when I went back to LR, I had to right click and click on restore to get LR back. I also had Outlook Express, Bridge and Firefox open and minimized at the same time.

:frown: I didn't even think of trying, that, just right click and click on restore and then thought darn there it is again. Caught me off guard both times. :frown:

Finally did it again. I had Firefox, Outlook Express, Photoshop CS4, Bridge and lightroom 2.3 open. I minimized LR23 and had been working in Photoshop, and surfing in Firefox. I clicked on LR23, and it would not restore. I tried the ALT-TAB and was able to make it come up that way.
