Restore Quick Collection from backup

I accidently deleted the collection of random images that I like to keep in my quick collection. I have a backup catalog that still contains these images. The images themselves still exist in the newest master catalog, they just aren't in the quick collection. Is there a way I can restore these photos to the quick collection somehow?

Jay, Welcome to the forums.

I'm confused. What exactly did you delete? Did you actually delete the images from the disk, remove them from the catalog, or just remove them from the quick collection? These are three completely different things.
How many catalogs are we talking about? You mention a backup catalog, a master catalog, and presumably there's a working catalog as well?

Open up the backup catalog, make a note of what's in the quick collection. Then open the main catalog, and reproduce the quick collection by hand.

The actual files still exist, they have just been removed from the quick collection of my most recently updated catalog. I have a backup catalog that I can reference from, but I don't want to have to manually reselect them because there are over 2'' and they are from numerous different folders.

Open the old catalog.
Right click on the Quick Collection, then select Save Quick Collection.

Give it a name.

Select this Collection then Export As Catalog.

Open the current catalog. Import the catalog you just exported. Go to the Collection you just named. Select all, then press B to add them to the Quick Collection in the current Catalog.

Jay, before pressing B, make sure there is a + sign to the right of the Quick Collection otherwise they will go into the collection having the + sign. This sign means that it is the Target collection. If it is not where you want, right click the collection you want as a target (Quick collection in this case) and choose "Set as Target Collection".

Remember that the main use of the Quick Collection is as a temporary collection. Once your images are back there, I suggest that you create a permanent collection from it that you can call "Prefered images" and use that one in the future, keeping the Quick Collection free for what it is made for.
